The 4G internet services will be restored in Jammu and Kashmir in two districts on a trial basis from August 15, the Centre has informed the Supreme Court on Tuesday. However, 4G internet will not be re-started near the border or Line of Control areas.
The Centre said the 4G ban will be lifted in one district each in Jammu and Kashmir divisions after August 15. The outcome of which will be assessed after two months.
High-speed internet was stopped in J&K in August last year following the removal of J&K special status.
The SC on May 11 had constituted a special committee to look into pleas for restoring of 4G internet services in J&K.
