A thick blanket of smog covered Delhi-NCR as air quality in Delhi-NCR further deteriorated to reach the ‘severe’ category on Friday morning.
Air Quality Index was at 408 in Anand Vihar, 447 in Bawana, 404 in Patparganj and 411 in Wazirpur. While AQI reached 384 in Indirapuram, in the 'poor' category, as per Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) data.
Centre has recently introduced a new law through an ordinance that puts in place a new Commission to tackle the air pollution in the Delhi-NCR region and attracts up to five years of jail term and Rs 1 crore fine for violators with immediate effect.
