“Before Executing Him, Taliban Verified Danish Siddiqui’s Identity”: Report

According to a report published in an American magazine, Pulitzer Prize-winning photojournalist Danish Siddiqui was just not killed in a crossfire in Afghanistan but was “brutally murdered” by the Taliban once his identity was verified.

As per the Washington Examiner report, Danish Siddiqui was on an assignment with the Afghan National Army, covering the clashes between Afghan troops and the Taliban. A Taliban attack split the team Siddiqui was traveling with. Siddiqui was left with three other Afghan troops.

After a shrapnel hit Siddiqui, he and his team went to a local Mosque to find treatment for the wound. But as the Taliban got to know about the presence of Siddiqui in the Mosque, they attacked them.

The report said, “Siddiqui was alive when the Taliban captured him. The Taliban verified Siddiqui's identity and then executed him, as well as those with him. The commander and the remainder of his team died as they tried to rescue him.”
