One person was reportedly killed while several others including 18 policemen suffered injuries in a firing after clashes during the immersion of Goddess Durga in Bihar’s Munger. Seven other people are also reported to be shot.
The incident reportedly took place at the Deendayal Upadhyay Chowk in Munger, when, during idol immersion, some anti-social elements resorted to stone-pelting which left 20 policemen injured. Bihar Police has detained over 100 people.
After this, someone from the crowd fired. "Rumours were spread and attempts were made to falsely accuse the police of beating up people,” said police, adding that three pistols, bullets and cartridges were found.
