Chinese PLA Returns 'Kidnapped' Arunachal Pradesh Teen

China's People's Liberation Army has handed over custody of a 17-year-old Arunachal Pradesh teenager, Miram Taron, as confirmed by Union Minister Kiren Rijiju and the state's BJP leadership. It was announced today that the boy has been handed over to the Indian Army

"The Chinese PLA has turned over the young child from Arunachal Pradesh Shri Miram Taron to the Indian Army," Rijiju tweeted. The proper processes, including the medical evaluation, are being followed."

He said on Wednesday that the PLA has confirmed Taron "would be repatriated to the Indian side," and that he will "disclose the specific location & time later for smooth proceeding." As a result, the Indian Army has worked with the Chinese side to make the required arrangements."

The teenage boy had gone missing on January 18, which was brought to light by state BJP MP Tapir Gao, who claimed that Taron had been kidnapped by the PLA from Indian territory, a claim that Taron's parents echoed.
