Congress Demands Amit Shah's Resignation On Violence During Farmers' Protest

Congress spokesperson Randeep Singh Surjewala on Wednesday demanded the resignation of Home Minister Amit Shah, blaming him for the 'failure of law and order' and the violence that took place yesterday during farmers' tractor parade on Tuesday.

Claiming the entire violence was sponsored by the Centre, Surjewala said the Government is selectively targeting farmer leaders but no FIR was filed against anti-social element which infiltrated in this protest. "Home minister completely failed to check the miscreants and rather than taking any action against miscreants, FIRs were registered against farm leaders,” Surjewala said.

He also claimed that since actor and activist Deep Sidhu is close to the BJP, his involvement in the Red Fort incident proves that it was a conspiracy to defame farmers’ union and their agitation.

The Congress leader claimed that if Amit Shah is not dismissed from his post now, it would be deemed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi was protecting him.
