Controversial Farm Bills Passed By Both Houses In Parliament; Only President's Signature Pending

The controversial agricultural bills have been passed by both houses of Parliament. Now the bill will become a law after the President's signature. On Sunday, the bill was tabled for discussion in Rajya Sabha. With little discussion and more commotion, the bill was passed by the Rajya Sabha despite strong opposition from the Opposition parties.

For the last two months, farmers of Haryana and Punjab have been on the streets in protest against the central government's farm bills. The farmers demand that the bills be withdrawn, as they are 'anti-farmer'. However, Prime Minister Modi has called the bill a 'watershed moment' for the agricultural sector.
