According to media reports, the Captain Amarinder Singh-led Punjab government has provided 74,000 stubble management machines for farmers across the state. However, the farmers say that the number of these machines for burning 20 million tonnes of straw in the state is inadequate.
The burning of stubble by farmers in Punjab, Haryana and Rajasthan has a severe effect on the air quality of Delhi. The quality of air reaches the lowest level during winters due to the smoke, which causes various diseases for Delhiites.
