Farmers Protest: Youth Who Turned Off Police's Water Cannon Charged With Attempt To Murder

A serious case has been registered against a young man - hailed by many on social media as a "hero" - who turned off police's water canon during the 'Delhi Chalo' march. In the viral video on social media, the person can be seen jumping off from a water canon after closing it and jumping on a trolley, with a heavy cheer from the crowd.

The man has been identified as Navdeep, son of farmer leader Jai Singh, and has been charged with an 'attempt to murder'. Under this charge, the person can be punished for violating Covid rules, inciting riots, and even life imprisonment.

Navdeep told an English newspaper, 'After my studies, I started farming with my father who is a farmer leader. I have never been involved in any illegal activities and people were getting hurt due to the water canon, so climbed up and got the courage to close the tap.'
