Harley-Davidson Shuts Operations In India, 70 Employees To Face The Axe

US cult motorcycle maker Harley-Davidson announced on Thursday that the company is discontinuing its sales and manufacturing operations in India as part of 'The Rewire' overhaul strategy, after 111 years of operations in the country.

The announcement comes two months after Harley revealed a strategy to shift focus back to more profitable motorcycles and core markets such as the US and less on markets where profit has been elusive.

Harley had an assembly plant at Bawal in Haryana and an estimated 70 employees are to face the axe as the company wraps up its operations in India.
