Media reporting from the Hathras village and entry of any politician or outsider in the village has been completely banned till the SIT completes its investigation. The situation is quite tense in Hathras after the death and alleged rape of a Dalit girl by four upper-caste men. Section 144 has been imposed in the area since 29 September. It is alleged that the UP police cremated the victim in the dark of September 29 night without handing over the dead body to the family.
