The Regional Meteorological Centre of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) won Wednesday, issued a “red alert” for Mumbai.
Heavy to very heavy rainfall has been predicted in Mumbai. Head of the Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) Mumbai, Jayant Sardar said, “There are two favourable synoptic situations for heavy to very heavy rains in Mumbai today and in the next few days. The offshore trough, spread from south Gujarat coast to Karnataka is expected to increase the intensity of showers.”
The second factor that he said was that of “shear zone” or wind patterns developed over Mumbai and the neighboring region.
