India would be assured of a second medal at the ongoing Tokyo Olympics as boxer Lovlina Borgohain reached the semi-finals of the Women’s welter (64-69 kg) category.
Lovlina defeated Nien-Chin Chen via a 4:1 spilt decision on Friday morning. In the round of 16 match, Lovlina defeated Germany’s Nadine Apetz 3:2.
She will become only the second Indian female boxer and the third overall to clinch an Olympic medal in boxing. Mary Kom and Vijender Singh have clinched olympic medals for India in Boxing before.
