India, Japan Not To Be Part Of AUKUS: U.S.

India and Japan have been ruled out from the newly created security arrangement AUKUS, which has also caused strained ties with common ally France. The security alliance was announced on September 15. The White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki said in a press conference that "The announcement of AUKUS last week was not meant to be an indication, and I think this is the message the President also sent to (French President Emmanuel) Macron, that there is no one else who will be involved in security in the Indo-Pacific”.

Therefore, France and other countries need not understand that being outside the alliance means that they will excluded from pursuing common goals in the region, including security.
