Indian Vaccine Exports Resume After 6 Months

India has resumed exports of coronavirus vaccines. Initially, India will begin exporting to neighbouring countries. Indian vaccines have reached Bangladesh, Nepal, Myanmar, and Iran.

External affairs ministry spokesperson Arindam Bagchi has said that the exports were in line with PM Modi’s announcement in the UNGA this September that India will resume exports to toehr countries and has initiated this with providing vaccines to its neighbours.

India had begun manufacturing and exporting coronavirus vaccines in January but had to halt exports in April due to domestic shortages causing widespread criticism of the government.

The external affairs spokesperson said that exports will now be based on the production and demand situation in India.
