At a time when India has taken punitive action against Chinese companies and tension still brewing at the border Indian sportspeople will be sponsored by a Chinese brand.
Sports Minister had a press conference with logo of Li Ning prominently behind him.
Prime Minister Modi had a virtual meeting with the sportspeople and saw the presentation for the preparedness for the Games. It's not clear if the sports ministry has taken clearance from the Prime Minister's office for such global sponsorship.
In fact India's official kit is designed and manufactured by Li Ning a sports brand from China. The kit was unveiled today at a press conference by the Union Sports Minister Koren Rijuju in Delhi.
