J&K: Abducted Army Personnel’s Blood-Stained Clothes Recovered From Shopian Village

Shakir Manzoor, a Territorial Army personnel, went missing from Shopian in Kashmir Valley on the evening of Aug 2. After five days, his family has found Shakir’s clothes from a nearby garden. There are marks of blood on Shakir’s clothes. The family members of Shakir have appealed to the extremists that even if they have murdered Shakir at least the corpse should be handed over to them as this is their right.

Shakir Manzoor is a soldier of the Territorial Army and was posted in the Army’s Balpora Camp. In August, he reached his home after taking leave. After staying at home for a few hours, Shakir went out in his car and did not come back. A few hours later, he called his house and pointed to his kidnapping.

The same evening, Shakir’s burnt car was found 16 km from his house but not him. The information was given to the local police, paramilitary and the Army, since then their search operation is going on. Now on Friday, Shakir’s father Manzoor Ahmed has found his blood-stained clothes but Shakir is still missing. Manzoor Ahmed has said that if his son has been killed, at least his body should be handed over to the family.

The central government and the Jammu and Kashmir administration have repeatedly claimed that after the abolition of Article 370, there has been a reduction in extremism and violence in the valley, but this claim is far from the truth. Recently, the extremists have targeted local leaders of different parties and soldiers engaged in security.
