Lucknow: UP Cops Stop Interfaith Marriage Taking Place With Families' Consent, Cite New Conversion Law

The Uttar Police police stopped an interfaith marriage between a Muslim man and a Hindu woman in Lucknow, citing the newly passed anti-conversion law against the ‘love-jihad’.

Despite the consent of their parents, the authorities said they would first have to take permission from the state authorities under the UP Prohibition of Unlawful Conversion of Religious Ordinance, 2020.
