MP Top Cop Shunted Out After Caught On Camera Beating Wife

Madhya Pradesh’s Additional Director General of Police, Purshottam Sharma, has been removed from his post after a video beating his wife went viral. In the video, DG Purushottam Sharma first pushes his wife to the floor and thrashes her. After the video went viral, the MP government relieved him of his duties. Madhya Pradesh Home Ministry said that if his wife complains then legal action will also be taken against Purshottam Sharma.

The ADG, however, denied all the charges and called it a ‘family dispute’, not a crime. Purushottam Sharma said: We've been married for 32 years, in 2008 she had complained against me. But the point is, since 2008 she has been living in my house, enjoying all facilities & travelling abroad on my expenses. If my nature is abusive then she should've complained earlier. This is a family dispute, not a crime. I am neither a violent person nor a criminal. It is unfortunate that I have to go through this. My wife stalks me & has put cameras in the house.”

The National Commission for Women Chief, Rekha Sharma, taking note of the incident, has demanded the officer be sent to jail. Madhya Pradesh Women's Commission, who has not received any complaint yet, said will take action on it.

It is being alleged that DG Purshottam Sharma was at his female friend’s place when his wife reached there. After this, they left from there but his wife questioned him about the woman and from here, a fight broke out between the couple and the officer assaulted his wife.
