'Neither A Post Nor Status': Kamal Nath After EC Revokes 'Star Campaigner' Status

The Election Commission has taken strict action against Madhya Pradesh Congress president and former chief minister Kamal Nath for his controversial statements. The Election Commission has removed Kamal Nath from the Indian National Congress' list of star campaigners. Kamal Nath had recently made derogatory remarks against BJP leader Imarti Devi a few days ago.

Kamal Nath has now reacted to the action of the Election Commission. Kamal Nath has said that he will go to the campaign. Kamal Nath tweeted - 'This is an attempt to suppress my voice. Now the public will decide. There is an attempt to crush the voice of Congress. Truth can be disturbed, not defeated. The public will support the truth.'

The Election Commission, in its order, said that there have been several complaints of violation of the code of conduct against Kamal Nath. After calling Imarti Devi an 'item', Kamal Nath also called Shivraj Singh a gimmick artist in another gathering. On the basis of the report of Madhya Pradesh CEO, the Commission found Kamal Nath guilty of violating the code of conduct. Despite repeated warnings, the Election Commission
has taken action under Article 1 and 2 of the Model Code of Conduct.

At the same time, Congress has decided to go to the Supreme Court against the decision. Congress leader Vivek Tankha said that he had received Kamal Nath's message and had spoken to Kapil Sibal and now he'll move to the Supreme Court.

Earlier, the Election Commission expressed displeasure over the 'Chunnu-Munnu' comment by senior BJP leader Kailash Vijayvargiya. Vijayvargiya made this remark against Congress leaders Digvijay Singh and Kamal Nath. The commission instructed Vijayvargiya not to use such words publicly while the code of conduct is in place.

The by-elections in Madhya Pradesh's 28 assembly seats are to be held on November 3. The election campaign is in full swing. Bypolls are being held in these seats due to the resignation of 28 Congress MLAs and later joining the BJP.
