“We have expelled Oli from the party on the grounds that he was not following the party rules and was working against collective decision-making,” said a senior leader of the faction opposing Oli
KP Sharma Oli, Nepal's caretaker Prime Minister, was ejected on Monday from the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) by his opponent Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' faction. Oli was expelled for his "unconstitutional" move in December to dissolve the lower house of the Parliament and call for an early election, his opponents said.
Oli remains in office, despite being stripped of party membership.
“We have expelled Oli from the party on the grounds that he was not following the party rules and was working against collective decision-making,” said Pampha Bhusal, a senior leader of the faction opposing Oli.
The faction had handed over a letter to the Nepal Prime Minister's residence over a decision to seek clarification. However, Mr Oli did not respond to the letter. This action was taken by the Central Committee of the party, he said.
