PM Modi Claims PM-GKAY Won’t Let Anyone Sleep Hungry While Interacting With Beneficiaries

Amidst the growing joblessness and food insecurity brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic, PM Narendra Modi said today that his government is committed to helping people meet their needs with the PM-GKAY scheme.

This scheme was launched in March 2020 as a food security program to counter livelihood crises during COVID-19. The Govt claims the scheme will aid 81.35 economically marginalized people by proving 5kg free wheat and 1 kg pulses of choice.

Holding a virtual interaction with beneficiaries of Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana (promoted with #HarGharAnn on social media) in Gujarat, Modi outlined the benefits and achievements of the scheme and announced that the scheme will extend until Diwali this year.

Minister of State Sadhvi Jyoti informed Lok Sabha in July that 278 LMT food grain have been distributed for free to over 80 crore NFSA beneficiaries under PM-GKAY
