Rajasthan: Elderly Muslim Auto Driver Assaulted For Not Shouting ‘Jai Shri Ram’

Just two days after the Bhoomi Pujan of Ram temple in Ayodhya, an elderly Muslim auto driver was assaulted in Rajasthan’s Sikar. The attacker was pressurising the auto driver Ghaffar Ahmed to shout slogans of ‘Modi Zindabad’ and ‘Jai Shri Ram’ and he was brutally beaten up after he refused to chant them.

The 52-year-old auto driver Ghaffar Ahmed, he suffered bruises and scars on his face and eyes and his teeth was broken in the attack. According to him, the attacker also took away his watch and money after the assault.

According to the driver’s nephew, Shahid, the incident took place at 4 pm on Friday when Ghaffar Ahmed was carrying passengers from a nearby village. Two car riders stopped him and asked for tobacco. After this, he asked Gaffar to raise slogans. But after his refusal to do so, they started beating him.

In his complaint, Ghaffar Ahmed said that after the attack he somehow was able to drive towards Sikar but the car riders stopped him again near Jagmalpura. Here, he was dragged from the auto and was assaulted.

According to Ghaffar, the attackers hit him on his face and broke his teeth, scratched his beard and legs and snatched Rs 700 and a watch. Gaffar has alleged that the attackers said that they will sit in peace only when they will send him to Pakistan.

Both the accused have been arrested after receiving the complaint. In the initial investigation, it is revealed that the two accused were drinking alcohol in a car park and during this time they stopped Gaffar. According to Pushkar Singh, SHO of Sadar Police Station, Sikar, both the accused Shambhudayal Jat and Rajendra Jat have been arrested while Ghaffar Ahmed has been admitted to Sikar Hospital.
