Former JNU student Umar Khalid has been sent to judicial custody by a Delhi court till 22 October for his alleged role in Delhi riots. Khalid is accused of giving provocative speeches and inciting riots in North East Delhi during Donald Trump's India visit. He was arrested on September 13 under the draconian anti-terrorism law, Unlawful Activities (Preventions) Act (UAPA).

Umar Khalid was in police custody for ten days and this was his last day in custody. In addition to sending Umar to police custody, the Delhi court said that this is an appropriate case for police custody. On September 21, a petition by Umar's family was rejected by the Delhi court, seeking an appointment.
