West Bengal Extends COVID-19 Restrictions Till August 15

The West Bengal government on Thursday extended the current restrictions all August 15 due to warnings of experts about a possible third wave of COVID-19. The government has also announced certain relaxations.

Buses, taxis and autorickshaws are permitted to operate with 50 percent capacity. Both government and private offices are allowed to function with 50 percent attendance.

As per the order issued, “Any violation of the restriction measures will be liable to be proceeded against as per the provisions of the Disaster Management Act, 2005 and relevant sections of the IPC.”
