Mysore, Karnataka: A young couple, a man and a woman, were assaulted by her ex-husband and his brother by tying them to a pole and beating them for hours because they ‘suspected’ the du to be consummating an intimate relationship. The Koland Police has registered a case in the matter and one of the accused has been arrested.
According to the police, the woman had separated from her husband five years ago and works as a labourer. The youth who was assaulted with her is her friend. On the day of the crime, she had called this friend to her house and this news had reached her former husband.
The victim’s ex-husband and his brother barged into the house, tied up the two, and proceeded to beat them for hours. Later, after villagers got to know of the goings-on, they came and rescued the two, whereas the police got to know about the matter on Friday.
The husband mentioned above has been arrested while his brother has fled, said the police. A Koland Police official said: “We have registered a case and the investigation is ongoing”.
