CBSE Class 10, 12 Exams From July 1-15 Cancelled,
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has cancelled the board exams of Class 10 and 12 scheduled from July 1 to 15 in the wake of COVID-19 pandemic, the Centre informed the Supreme Court on Thursday.

Students, however, will have the option to opt for exams to be conducted later.

Meanwhile, the ICSE Board has also decided to follow the suit of CBSE by cancelling the pending exams scheduled from July 2 to 12. "We will follow the same pattern as proposed by CBSE and we will notify it to our students," the Board told SC today.

Solicitor General (SG) Tushar Mehta told the SC, “as soon as conditions will be conducive, we could conduct the CBSE class 12 examinations for students who opt for it”.

He added that a scheme has been set up where class 12 student will be assessed on the marks scored in the last three exams.

Delhi, Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu have conveyed their inability to conduct the examinations amid the growing coronavirus cases in the States, the SG informed the top court.

The development comes as the Court was hearing petitions filed by a group of parents who challenged the CBSE's decision to conduct the pending Class 10 and Class 12 exams in July amid the pandemic.

The results for the already-conducted exams are expected to be declared in mid-August while the academic year may begin in September 2020.
