Protests Erupt In Rajasthan Over Depiction Of Jat
Protests have erupted in Rajasthan against the Ashutosh Gowariker-directed film ‘Panipat’, which is based on historical characters and released on December 6.

After attacks on some theatres in Jaipur, the film is no longer being screened at the city’s Raj Mandir, Cinepolis and INOX cinema halls. The protestors belonging to the Jat community say the character of Bharatpur’s Maharaja Surajmal has been depicted 'in negative light' in the film.

Meanwhile, Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has urged the Censor Board to take cognizance in this matter. He said that film producers should ensure everything before making a film, so that there is no scope for a controversy later on.

‘Panipat’ portrays the events of the historic battle of 1761 between the loyal forces of Ahmed Shah Abdali, founder of the Durrani Empire, and the Maratha army. The film stars Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Kapoor and Kriti Sanon in lead roles.
