Sonam Sherpa: Parikrama’s Lead Guitarist And Founding Member Dies At 48
The founding member and lead guitarist of one of India’s much-acclaimed rock band Parikrama,
Sonam Sherpa died on Friday in Kurseong at the age of 48.
Sonam was in Kurseong to record music for an upcoming movie while he suffered a massive cardiac arrest. Sherpa found Parikrama on June 17, 1991 in Delhi along with Subir Malik, who plays organ in the band. His work But It Rained, Tears of the Wizard and Am I Dreaming were lauded by his followers. Sherpa, born on October 8, 1971, in Kalimpong in West Bengal was a famous musician and composer and even composed music for few Bollywood films. Sonam was also featured in the ‘Top 10 Guitarist of India’ list by the Rolling Stones magazine and was also featured by the BBC in a rockumentary while on their Download Festival Tour.
