Coca-Cola Yet Again Top Global Plastic Polluter
For the second consecutive time, Coca-Cola has topped the list of global plastic polluters. This fact has come to light in a report released by the environmental group ‘Break Free From Plastic’.
According to the recently-released Global Audit Report on Plastic Waste, Coca-Cola is at the top of the list of plastic polluters in the world. Nestle and Pepsico follow Coca-Cola in causing this type of pollution.
To prepare this report, 72,541 volunteers were asked to collect plastic waste in 51 countries, out of which 43% were found to be consumer brands. In the report, Coca-Cola has been held responsible for 11,732 pieces of plastic in 37 countries. Coca-Cola is the largest producer of plastic waste in Africa and Europe but in America, this spot goes to to Nestle, followed by the Solo Cup Company at second spot and Starbucks at third spot.
