COVID-19: Almost 20,000 New Cases In 24 Hours, Active Patients Cross 2 Lakh Mark
For the second consecutive day in India, around 20,000 new COVID-19 cases were reported across the country while 380 people died. According to the latest data of the Ministry of Health, the total number of infected patients in the country has reached close to five and a half lakhs, while the death toll has reached 16,475.

Along with the total infected patients, the number of active patients is also increasing every day in the country. At present, there are more than 2,10,000 active patients in the country whereas in Russia the number of active patients is around 2,26,000. It is expected that in the coming days the number of active patients in the country will be more than Russia.
Restrictions like strict lockdown are being implemented in many states due to the rising number of cases. A 14-day stringent lockdown has begun in Guwahati, while in Hyderabad, the rumor of another lockdown has intensified. A similar ban has also been imposed in Chennai and surrounding areas. Meanwhile, Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray has also made it clear that the lockdown will not be lifted in the state due to the risk of infection.
