COVID-19: India Crosses 10 Lakh Cases, Lockdown In

All the efforts of the central and state government have proved to be unsuccessful in curbing the coronavirus spread. According to new figures of the Health Ministry, in the last 24 hours, about 35,000 new patients have been found while 687 people have died. After the new data comes, the total number of infected patients in the country has gone up to 10 lakh 3 thousand 832 while the death toll has increased to 25,602.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi had tweeted on July 14 that in the current week the corona patients tally will cross the 10 lakh mark. Gandhi’s estimate proved out to be correct and in just three days the number of corona patients reached over 1 million. Retweeting his old tweet, he claimed that if COVID-19 spreads at such a rapid pace, by August 10, there will be more than 2 million infected patients in the country. He appealed to the government that concrete and planned steps should be taken to prevent this pandemic.

The lockdown has been reimposed in several places due to the huge increase in the number of patients. Now Odisha has also imposed complete lockdown in its four districts Ganjam, Khurda, Cuttack and Jajpur, and Rourkela city till 31 July.
