More than 8,000 COVID-19 cases were reported across the country for the third consecutive day, with a death toll of 200, according to the Health Ministry’s latest bulletin, bringing the total cases to 198,706 and the death toll at 5,598.

India now ranks fourth globally by overtaking France in terms of active cases. India has 97,581 cases while France has 91,000 cases.


According to the Johns Hopkins University, there are 1,136,982 active cases in the United States, 288,279 in Brazil, 234,146 in Russia.

Peru stands at the fifth spot where there are more than 96,000 active patients and France is at seventh with 91,000 active cases.

If infections continue with the same rate, India will surpass Italy this week, where about 233,000 cases have been reported so far.

Italy is one of the countries where the infection spread quickly after China, but now the situation is better than before.
