COVID-19: Record Single-Day Spike of 52,123 Cases,
July 29 proved to be the worst day for the Central and state government agencies that have so far failed to stop the coronavirus spread. According to the Health Ministry, on July 29, a record 52,123 new cases were reported across the country, while 775 people died.

After the figures came out, the total number of infected patients in the country has increased to 15 lakh 83 thousand 792 while the death toll has gone up to about 35 thousand. The Health Ministry also informed that now the number of active patients in the country is 5 lakh 28 thousand 242 while more than 10 lakh people have been cured of the disease.


This record increase in COVID-19 cases occurred on the exact day when the Ministry of Home Affairs released Unlock 3 guidelines. According to the new guidelines, the night curfew has been removed and the gyms, etc. are also ready to open.

Meanwhile, the Maharashtra government has extended the lockdown restrictions until 31 August. The Maharashtra government has said that malls, commercial complexes will be open from 9 am to 7 pm but theaters, food courts, and restaurants will remain closed.
