With record 6,387 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours, India cases have mounted to 151,767 and the death toll is at 4,337. According to Health Ministry data at 8 am on Wednesday, there are 83,004 active cases and 64,425 people have recovered.

At 1,792, the highest number of deaths in the country were reported in Maharashtra, where 54,758 cases have come to light and 16,954 people have recovered too. Tamil Nadu has become the second worst-affected state with 17,082 cases, 118 deaths and 8,731 recoveries, followed by Gujarat.


In Gujarat, 915 people have died so far, while 7,139 people have been discharged and the total number of patients is 14,821.

In Madhya Pradesh, there have been 305 deaths. The total number of patients here is 7,024 and 3,689 patients have been discharged. 

In Delhi, there have been 288 deaths. A total of 14,465 cases have been reported here and 7,223 patients have recovered.

In West Bengal, 283 people have lost their lives so far. While 1,486 people have recovered here, 4,009 people have contracted the coronavirus.

In Rajasthan, 170 people have lost their lives so far. While 4,171 people have recovered here, 7,536 people have contracted the coronavirus.

There have been 170 deaths in Uttar Pradesh. Over here, 6,548 cases have been reported and 3,698 patients have recovered.

In Andhra Pradesh, there have been 57 deaths. The total number of patients here is 3,171 and 2,009 patients have been discharged.

In Telangana, 57 people have lost their lives so far. While 1,991 people have contracted the virus, 1,284 people have recovered.

In Karnataka, 44 people have died, with 2,283 cases and 748 recoveries have been reported.

There have been 40 deaths in Punjab. While 1,918 people have recovered here, the total number of patients is 2,106.

In Jammu and Kashmir, 24 people have lost their lives so far. While 833 people have recovered, 1,759 people have contracted the illness.

Haryana has reported 17 deaths, 824 recoveries and 1,305 coronavirus cases.

Bihar COVID-19 deaths is at 13, recoveries at 900 and cases at 2,983.

Odisha has registered 7 deaths, 733 recoveries and 1,517 cases.

In Kerala, there have been 6 deaths, 542 recoveries and 963 cases.

Himachal Pradesh have reported five deaths, with 247 cases and 67 recoveries.

There have been four deaths in Assam, Jharkhand, Uttarakhand and Chandigarh. Total cases stand at 616 in Assam, 426 in Jharkhand, 401 in Uttarakhand, 266 in Chandigarh, whereas 62 in Assam, 175 in Jharkhand, 64 in Uttarakhand and 187 in Chandigarh have been discharged.

Besides, Meghalaya have reported one death each.

The coronavirus has hit 33 states and union territories across the country so far and the number of patients is increasing rapidly.
