Delhi LG Reverses Order: Not All COVID-19 Patients
Bringing an end to a spat between the Delhi Government and Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal, the LG on Thursday reversed his decision that all COVID-19 patients need to go to care facilities, allowing home quarantine for those found in a position to do so.

Under the previous rules of the Delhi government, COVID-19 tests will  nowbe conducted at home by Government officials, who will assess clinically and physically if the patient is fit to remain in home isolation.

In two tweets, the LG’s office said only those COVID positive cases who do not have adequate facilities at home to ensure physical segregation and do not have other medical conditions would require to be shifted to COVID Care centres and other facilities.

It further said the Anil Baijal-led State Disaster Management Authority agreed to modify the standard operating procedure (SOP) for home isolation for COVID patients to meet the twin objectives of containment of local spread & provision of timely medical care for COVID positive cases to save precious lives.

The decision was taken at the meeting of the state disaster management authority (SDMA) headed by the Lt Governor.

Earlier, LG Anil Baijal, overruling the Delhi Government order of home isolation, had made five days of institutional quarantine mandatory for all Coronavirus positive patients.

Terming the LG's decision 'arbitrary', the Delhi government had asked the Central Government to intervene.
