In Delhi, a record 131 COVID-19 patients have died from the novel coronavirus in the last 24 hours. Officials said that this is the highest ever death toll from Covid-19 in a single day. While 7,486 new cases were also reported. 

With this, Delhi’s caseload topped five lakh and the number of the dead reached 7,943. Covid-19’s recovery rate in the national capital is 89.98 percent, active patients 8.4 percent, and death rate 1.58 percent. The positivity rate is 12.03 percent.


Meanwhile, the Delhi government has said in its affidavit to the High Court that wearing a mask is mandatory, even inside personal vehicles. Citing an old judgment of the Supreme Court on behalf of the Delhi government, it has been argued that the car of a person on the road cannot be counted in the category of private space. The Supreme Court made this remark about people drinking alcohol in a private car in a prohibition case in Bihar.

The Delhi government’s affidavit has come on a petition challenging a fine of Rs 500 for not applying a mask while driving alone in a closed car. In the previous hearing, the High Court had issued notices to Delhi Police, Kejriwal Government, Delhi Disaster Management Authority, and Health Ministry.

Meanwhile, DM Suhas LY of Gautam Budhanagar had given instructions to conduct random corona tests of people heading to Noida from Delhi on Wednesday amid growing infection in Delhi. After this, a total of 165 surprise Covid-19 tests were conducted on the Noida-Delhi border, and out of these three people have been found corona infected.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has convened an all-party meeting on the worrisome situation. Congress and BJP have been invited to the meeting.
