Despite the lockdown and all kinds of restrictions, the number of coronavirus patients in the country keeps increasing.

According to the latest data from the Health Ministry, while the number of patients has reached 14,378, the death toll stands at 480.

While the number of active patients at present is 11,906, 1,992 people have been discharged from the hospital after treatment.

Amid this, 20 Indian Navy personnel have contracted the coronavirus after coming into contact with a sailor infected with the viral disease.

All of them were posted at Mumbai’s INS Angre, which has been locked down for the moment.

One patient from the Indian Navy had been found on April 7 and the remaining 20 sailors had come into contact with him.

However, while coronavirus symptoms had not been seen among the 20 sailors, all of them were found positive in test reports.

Earlier, Indian Army chief General MM Naravane had said that eight people associated with the Army have been infected with the coronavirus. Among them are two doctors and one nursing assistant.

Meanwhile, an Army jawan had contracted the coronavirus in Ladakh but he has recovered after treatment and returned to duty.
