India COVID-19 Cases Cross 42,000, Death Toll At 1
The havoc wreaked by the coronavirus in the country is worsening. According to the latest data from the Health Ministry, the number of patients has reached 42,533 and the death toll stands at 1,373.

In the last 24 hours, 2,553 new cases have been reported and 72 people have died.


Maharashtra is among the states worst-affected by the coronavirus, with 12,974 cases reported so far, followed by Gujarat at 5,428, Delhi at 4,549 and Tamil Nadu at 3,023 cases have been reported.

In Rajasthan 2,886, in Madhya Pradesh 2,846 and in Uttar Pradesh 2,645 cases have been reported.

In the capital Delhi, 144 Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jawans have contracted the coronavirus.

Meanwhile, after the private secretary of a top official was found positive, the CRPF headquarters have been sealed.

Apart from the CRPF, 54 Border Security Force (BSF) jawans are also infected by the virus.

Tripura had been declared coronavirus-free earlier but now there are 14 patients here and all of them are BSF jawans.

Meanwhile, the number of coronavirus patients across the world has crossed 35.66 lakh and the death toll stands at over 2.48 lakh.

The United States is among the worst-hit nations, where 68,000 people have died so far. 

In Russia, over 10,000 patients have been found in one day (a record) and the total number of patients has crossed 1.34 lakh here.
