COVID-19 Cases Mount To 24,506, Death Toll 775
The number of coronavirus patients in the country shows no signs of letting up. According to the Health Ministry, 24,506 people have been hit by the coronavirus and 775 people have died so far.

The latest data shows that 1,429 cases came to light in the past 24 hours and 57 deaths were reported from different parts of the country. At present, 5,063 people have been discharged from the hospital.


Maharashtra tops the list of states with the coronavirus infection at 6,430 cases and Gujarat is on the second spot with 2,624 cases.

Meanwhile, 2,376 cases in Delhi and 1,852 cases have come to light in Madhya Pradesh so far.

Amid this, Tripura’s Health Secretary and the Director of the National Health Mission have been embroiled in a case of corruption. They have been accused of fraud in the purchase of coronavirus test kits, protective gear and medicines.

State government Minister Ratanlal Nath has removed them from their posts.

Along with India, a massive spike in coronavirus cases is being witnessed across the world.

According to the latest data from Johns Hopkins University, over 28 lakh 30 thousand people around the world have been hit by the coronavirus and the death toll stands at over 1 lakh 97 thousand.

The maximum number of deaths (52,000) has been reported in the United States, where the number of infected people has crossed 9 lakh 25 thousand. 

Meanwhile, there have been 26,000 deaths in Italy and 22,000 deaths each in Spain and France. In Britain, the death toll has exceeded 19,500.
