India COVID-19 Cases Near 50,000, Death Toll 1,694
The number of coronavirus patients in the country is increasing expeditiously. According to the latest data from the Health Ministry, the total number of patients in the country has reached 49,391 and the death toll stands at 1,694.

While 2,958 new coronavirus patients have been found in the last 24 hours, 126 people have died in this duration.

Amid this, Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has announced the extension of the lockdown in the state till May 29.

He said that the common people should buy essential commodities by 6 p.m. and stay at home after that. Curfew will be imposed in the state from 7 p.m. and strict action will be taken against those violating it, he added.

Apart from Telangana, Section 144 has also been imposed in Uttar Pradesh’s Ghaziabad district till May 31. District Magistrate Ajay Shankar Pandey said that the duration of the curfew can be reduced or increased as per the prevailing situation.

Meanwhile, after UP, now migrant labourers have been ‘disinfected’ in West Bengal too. These labourers had arrived in Hooghly from Rajasthan’s Ajmer on a special train and they were sprayed with disinfectants at the railway station.

A similar incident has come to light in UP’s Raebareli as well.
