India COVID-19 Death Toll Crosses 12,000, States Want Ramping Up of Testing
Coronavirus infections in the country are hitting new highs every day. Over the last 24 hours, a record 12,881 new cases and 334 deaths were reported, the Health Ministry's latest bulletin said.
The latest numbers bring the country’s death toll past 12,000 and total cases to 366,946.
To stem the infections, preparations are underway to increase COVID-19 testing. Many States have demanded to increase the testing capacity without which it is difficult to prevent infections during the PM Modi’s meeting with the Chief Ministers. According to the ICMR latest data, 165,412 samples were tested in the past 24 hours, while a total of 6,249,668 coronavirus tests have been conducted so far.
