The same situation prevails in other South Asian nations.

According to the Johns Hopkins University, after India, the highest number of patients (at 3,157) in South Asia is in Pakistan and the death toll is 47.

On third spot is Afghanistan, where 349 patients have been found and seven people have died.

Similarly, 176 patients have been found in Sri Lanka and five people have died.

The number of patients in Bangladesh is 88 and eight people have succumbed to the disease.

In the Maldives, 19 patients have been found but there have been no deaths here.
