Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu extend lockdown till May 31
Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu have extended their lockdowns until May 31.
Maharashtra, which is battling with the most number of COVID-19 cases in the country, made the announcement on the last day of Lockdown 3.0.
On Sunday a statement from the state Chief Secretary’s office said that “It is expedient to extend the lockdown in the entire state of Maharashtra further till midnight of 31st May 2020… It is further directed that all earlier orders shall be aligned with order and shall remain in force up to and inclusive of 31st May 2020. The calibrated phase wise relaxation/lifting of lockdown orders will be notified in the due course”. As of the last update, Maharashtra has recorded 30,706 infections and 1,135 deaths so far.

Tamil Nadu has reported 10,585 cases so far, with 74 deaths In a record spike, 4,987 cases were reported in the country in the last 24 hours, with 120 deaths, according to government data on Sunday morning. Total coronavirus cases in India have risen to 90,927, of which 53,946 are active cases.
