Nearly 20,000 COVID-19 Cases in 24 Hours in India, Global Cases Breach 10 million Mark

The country saw the highest spike in coronavirus cases with 19,906 cases recorded in the last 24 hours. There were also 410 deaths, bringing the number of total fatalities to 16,095, according to Health Ministry data released on Sunday morning.

The total number of cases in India now stands at 5,28,859 of which 2,03,051 are active cases and 3,09,713 have been cured.

Maharashtra remains the worst affected state in the country with over 159,000 cases followed by Delhi with over 80,000 cases.

The global death toll from COVID-19 has breached the 10-million mark, with over 500,000 dead. India is now the fourth worst affected nation from the coronavirus after the US, Brazil and Russia.

The US has now well over 2.59 million cases.
