Deadly 6.8 Magnitude Earthquake Hits Eastern Turke
More than 18 people have died so far after a 6.8 magnitude earthquake hit eastern Turkey late on Friday night. Also, around 500 people have been seriously wounded.

Several buildings were razed to the ground due to the earthquake, during which 15 jolts were felt, because of which panic spread among people.


According to government officials, relief and rescue work is underway in the affected areas, after which people have been stopped from going near damaged buildings.

The earthquake tremors were also felt in Turkey’s neighbouring countries - Iraq, Syria, and Lebanon. There have been no reports of any damage in these countries so far.

Earlier, an earthquake had struck Turkey on January 22 as well, when Karkaga and Akhsir towns of the Manisa province had experienced tremors. However, no damage or casualty of any kind had occurred at that time.
