Lockdown Extended: Students Stuck In Bangladesh Am
Some MBBS students from India studying in Dhaka, Bangladesh, were stuck in that country due to several travel restrictions that have been imposed including the closure of schools and colleges in view of the coronavirus threat.

In view of restrictions in Bangladesh, students were told to go back home from their colleges and evacuate their hostels, but after a long journey of 12-16 hours from Dhaka, they found the Petrapole-Benaapole airport closed.

Around 75-80 students reached Benaapole on March 23 at 6 pm, stuck at the border, without food. Next day on March 24 in the afternoon some people were allowed to pass the border which created further ruckus.

The students tried requesting authorities to arrange a flight to Delhi, as soon Bangladesh would also be locked down, but no response came.

They had to remain stranded at the airport for a day. Students said their parents were worried for them and were receiving endless calls of concern.

Subsequently, the Indian mission in Bangladesh reached out to the hostel authorities, who have assured facilities will continue for Indian students. Late in the evening of March 24, vehicles were arranged for the students to return to their hostels.

But now in wake of the new announcement of a complete lockdown of India by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, their future remains uncertain.
