Lockdown Extended: Indian Students Stranded In Bangladesh Amid COVID-19 Outbreak
Around 75-80 students reached Benaapole on March 23 at 6 pm, stuck at the border, without food. Next day on March 24 in the afternoon some people were allowed to pass the border which created further ruckus. The students tried requesting authorities to arrange a flight to Delhi, as soon Bangladesh would also be locked down, but no response came. They had to remain stranded at the airport for a day. Students said their parents were worried for them and were receiving endless calls of concern. Subsequently, the Indian mission in Bangladesh reached out to the hostel authorities, who have assured facilities will continue for Indian students. Late in the evening of March 24, vehicles were arranged for the students to return to their hostels.
