Many people took to streets in Karachi on Tuesday to protest against the alleged murder of a Sindhi Hindi girl, Nimrita Chandni.

Hundreds of protestors carried placards and demanded the culprits be put behind the jail. They were heard shouting slogans like—“Namrita ko Insaf do”, “Won’t tolerate hooliganism”.

Nimrita, a final-year student of Bibi Asifa Dental College in Larkana district, was found lying on a cot by her friends on Monday with a rope tied to her neck in her hostel room.

Her brother Dr Vishal Sundar has alleged foul play in her death. He said that his sister did not commit suicide, but was murdered. “It was not a suicide, suicide marks are different, I found cable marks around her neck. There are marks on other parts of her body too like a person was holding her." He demanded a transparent probe into the circumstances of her death.

The police are investigating the case from all angles. However, it has not been clear yet whether Nimrata committed suicide or was murdered.
