Trump Says Coronavirus Not Fault Of Asian American
Under fire for using terms “China virus” and “Chinese virus” to describe COVID-19, US President Donald Trump said that the spread of the virus is not the fault of Asian-Americans, a community that has been facing the growing number of racist and xenophobic attacks amid the pandemic.

At a White House coronavirus task force news conference on Monday, Trump said: "It is very important that we totally protect our Asian American community in the United States and all around the world.”

”They're amazing people and the spreading of the virus is not their fault in any way, shape or form. They're working closely with us to get rid of it - we will prevail together,” Trump said.

He also said replying to a reporter’s question, “It seems that there could be a little bit of nasty language toward the Asian Americans in our country and I don't like that at all. These are incredible people, they love our country and I'm not going to let it happen."

So far, the virus has killed 533 people in the US out of more than 43,000 cases, according to a tracker managed by Johns Hopkins University.
