BJP's Overseas Affiliate Under Investigation In The US!
Speculation is rife about the reason behind the resignation of its president Krishna Reddy Anugula. However, the OFBJP-US denied that it is under investigation and said it is “fully functional”, adding that Krishna Reddy stepped down from the post of president due to family reasons and Adapa Prasad took charge as Working President. However, the matter is not so straightforward as the outfit OFBJP-US, which was formed in 1991, has to register itself on August 28 in the Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA), which comes under the US Department of Justice. Under FARA, politicians of other countries and organisations associated with political parties and responsible people have to undergo registration. Under this, the organization has to provide details of its political relations, expenses and activities to the government from time to time. Questions are arising that why did the OFBJP-US formed in 1991 register with FARA after 30 years? Was it due to the heavily rooted 'Howdy Modi' and 'Namaste Trump' programs in the Republican Party's campaign video in the US election campaign? According to the English newspaper The Hindu, BJP's foreign affairs in-charge Vijay Chauthwale has written to the US chapter of OFBJP and warned that the name of the BJP should not be officially used for campaigning in the US. He has made it clear that the BJP has no role in the US elections and the people associated with it are participating in the elections only in a personal capacity. In this regard, Go News India spoke to BJP leader Dr Vijay Jolly, who was formerly the President of Overseas Friends of BJP., who clarified that the OFBJP has no direct relationship with the BJP, but admitted that the organisation has people with right-wing ideology who are strongly influenced by the BJP. Meanwhile, the Indian Overseas Congress tweeting the FARA Registration Certificate of OFBJP-US, asked if there is any investigation going on in the Justice Department against the outfit?
